Saudha-Jibanananda Festival

Jibanananda Festival is returning to Rich Mix, London for the fifth year to celebrate the legacy of Poet Jibanananda Das with an evening of readings and performances that reinterpret his major works.

Curated by Ahmed Kaysher, the festival is featuring performances and re-interpretation by poet John Farndon, British Bulgarian poet Dr Snezhina Gulubova with Burgarian translation of Jibanananda, British Persian poet Dr Alireza Abiz with Persian translation, British Egyptian poet Mohammed Mohsen with Arabic translation.

Directed by Ahmed Kaysher, two poetry-theatres based on the poems of Jibanananda Das are being staged, too. 'After Twenty Years' will be performed by poet Sarwar E Alam, Sewli Bhattacharyya, Cllr jasmin Chowdhury and Indian classical singer Koyel Bhattacharya on the backkground music. 'Oh Kite' will be performed by performance poet Tanjina Nur-I Siddique & Monidipa Seal and Koyel Bhattacharya on the background music.  

The festival is brining haunting recitation of Jibanananda's work by some leading spoken-word artists here in the UK that include poet David Lee Morgan, Dr Zaki Rezawana Anwar, Poppy Shahnaz, Munira Parvin, Jasmin Chowdhury, Syed Anwar Reza, Tanjina Nur-i Siddique.

Visual interpretation of Jibanananda's work will be brought live  by Monidipa Seal, Sitishna Bose, Sharmishtha Pandit, Esha Charavarty Bhattacharya. 

Award-winning photographer Pablo Khaled will bring a photographic re-creation of his poems through a unique presentation. 

A few musical interpretation of Jibanananda's poetry are being staged by an acclaimed Indian classical singer Koyel Bhattacharya, poet John Farndon, Suha Priyadarshini Chakravorty and Laboni Barua.
