Bangla Music Festival 2019

This unique festival and the highest qulity feastival of Bengali music outside India returning to London for the seventh year, showcases the splendour of Bangla Music and its spectacular latitude through mind blowing performances (with relevant translation wherever necessary) by the best of Britain.

The festival features the evolution of Bangla music (evolved approximately at 730 AC) from Charjya-Pod, folk, Kirton, Toppa, Poncho-Kobi (Tagore,D.L Roy, Atul Prasad, Rajanikanto and Nazrul) to Modern Bangla music. The leading singers around the UK from West-Bengal and Bangladeshi origin will exude the treasure and the glorious journey of Bangla music.

The event is supported by the London borough of Tower Hamlets.

 

Saudha Bangla Music Festival - Poplar Union

As part of saudha's Bangla music Festival, returning to London for seventh year this year, the session at Poplar Union is bringing divine, acred recital of Tagore and other semi-classical music that includes Poncho Kobi, Nidhu Babu, Sridhar Kathak etc.

Tagore and lyrics from Poncho kobi will be performed by a Tagore singer in the UK, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed. Lyrics of Nazrul and other semi-classical Bengali music are being performed by a critically acclaimed semi-classical singer Rikta Mukherjee.

T M Ahmed Kaysher will present the show, with translation and a brief introduction on the history and background of this sublime form of world music.

Saudha Bangla Music Festival - Rich Mix

Explore the masterely, devine presentation of Bengali Music by a UK based Hindustani classical singer Srimati Chandra Chakraborty. 

T M Ahmed Kaysher will present the show, with translation and a brief introduction on the history and background of this sublime form of world music.

 Saudha Bangla Music Festival -  Fight in Verse (কবির লড়াই)

Kobi Nazrul centre, 30 Hanbury Street, London E1 6QR

As part of saudha's Bangla music Festival, returning to London for seventh year this year, the session at Kobi Nazrul Centre will bring a lost tradition of unique genre of Bengali music, used to be peformed whole night under the benyan tree in rural Bengal.

The genre of music usually features poetic discourse between two versifiers on different themes with singing and talk in verses.

Narrated in English, the session at Kobi Nazrul centre will take you to the rustic yard of Bengal under the benyan tree and will give a unique experience of haunting music, humorous talks in verses and indepth knowldge through debate in verses and music on a metaphysical theme.
